Episode 16: What Do You Think of You?

What do you think of you?

There might not be a more important question.  The answer affects every area of your life.  

You should know that feeling unworthy or inadequate is part of being human.  It is the result of living in a human body that is powered a human brain, which is naturally programmed to notice what’s wrong with you.

Just like in a computer that runs on software, the brain's software, running all the time in the background of our lives, is that there’s definitely something wrong with us. This programming makes us question our overall worth.

So knowing this, how do we love ourselves?  

You have to choose to.  You have to give yourself permission to.  In other words, we have to discipline our thoughts and decide purposefully how we want to think about ourselves.  Here are some things to consider:

  1. You are amazing and you didn't have anything to do with it.
  2. The way you talk to yourself matters.
  3. You can define yourself any way you want.
  4. You can't do anything to make yourself more worthy or make yourself "better."
  5. Managing our brains to love ourselves is a practice that we do as long as we are alive and thinking thoughts.
